Energetic and direct, Charlie brings 20 years of senior operational management to the business. His recent success in large-scale leisure and spa businesses gives The Massage Company (TMC) a competitive and commercially successful edge.

He has experience of health & wellness consultancy work right across Europe, while working remotely on projects in Asia and North America. As Managing Director his focus with TMC covers sales, operational process, technology, training, design and financial accountability and he has recruited a strong senior team to work with him.

He achieved International Resort General Manager success very early, leading a 100-strong hotel team out of a ‘poor’ rating to an ‘excellent’ rating. “I was only 26 and they gave me their largest hotel resort in Greece. Their faith in me was huge and it was repaid” says Charlie. Since then, he has changed industries, to focus on the spa and wellness sector, opening over 20 new spa locations while also spending over 7 years as Chairman of the UK Spa Association.

“My time as Chairman gave me huge insight into government funding, industry data, trends and most importantly, training” he quotes. The access to this level of insight, when combined with experience of running over 80 spas (400 therapists) with Virgin Active Health Clubs, and over 30 hotel spas (Q Hotel Group) is a unique combination that ensures TMC can grow and scale quickly.

Personally, he is inspired by Bear Grylls, who is straight talking and risk taking, Charlie has a real passion to grow the health and wellness market. When not working, he is happiest when in the mountains or on the water! He also has 2 teenage daughters.
